Home / Success Cases / Cooling plant Spider and Mitica
Design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of a cooling plant serving the Spider and Mitica experiments. This involved the construction of a major experimental cooling system for the SPIDER machine (a source for producing deuterium ions) and MITICA (a neutral particle injector for plasma heating). The total thermal load is 70 MW, and the installed cooling capacity is 24 MW, with two thermal inertia basins. The technological setup of the experiment includes 10 distinct circuits with over 5 km of stainless steel networks, featuring a high level of instrumentation. Due to the reliability required for the experiment, the commissioning of the plant lasted over a year.
